Colchester Ridge Estate Winery, or “CREW” as we are readily known, was established in 2001 by the husband and wife team of Bernie and Nancy Gorski.
The Gorski’s planted twelve acres of vinifera vines on their family land in 2001, produced their first vintage in 2004, and opened the shop in the red building behind the vineyard in 2006. After years of continual growth led by product quality and personal hospitality, the Gorski’s proudly presented the new CREW Winery & Gallery as of November 1, 2019.
The name CREW didn’t necessarily come from a love of sailing, but is certainly a happy coincidence. Our name CREW is an acronym for Colchester (where we are) Ridge (for the ridge formed by the ice age as it passed through our region) Estate Winery, well, because we don’t grow Kale!
North 42 Degrees
Estate Winery
130 County Road 50 East
Harrow, ONT, N0R 1G0

North 42 Degrees Estate Winery began with a dream and a love of agriculture, wine and our community. It is built on a commitment of quality, authenticity and sustainability.
As 3rd generation farmers of Polish heritage, wine flows deep within our owners roots with sordid tales of winemaking and bootlegging in the Dirty 30’s to the transformation of bountiful fruit harvests into wine. Martin Gorski and Suzanne Dajczak are the happily married co-owners of North 42 group of companies including North 42 Degrees Estate Winery, North 42 Farms, an active grain farming operation and Serenity Lavender Farm. Martin was exposed to grape growing at a young age when he tended to his grandparents grape vines. After a career in medical research and quality management Martin, a microbiologist returned to school to obtain his wine making certification from Washington State University. To Martin, winemaking is the ultimate expression of farming. He is involved in the daily management of the companies while. Suzanne, a lawyer, is involved with the marketing aspects of the companies.

Oxley Estate
Winery
533 County Road 50 East
Harrow, ONT, N0R 1G0
519-738-3264
We farm our vineyards using eco-friendly farming practices, including reduced chemical intervention, in an effort to encourage a healthy and sustainable environment. Our vineyards are located south of the 42nd parallel (as is southern Italy, central Spain and many of the California regions). The Lake Erie North Shore appellation has the highest heat accumulation and the longest growing season of the Ontario wine appellations. Our vineyards’ proximity to Lake Erie provides protection in the cold, as long as the lake has not frozen over, and access to lake breezes that exercise and dry our vines.
Our vines are planted in a north-south direction, with rows spaced eight feet apart and vines planted four feet apart to maximize sun exposure in the morning and provide protection from overheating and sun burn in the evening. We follow the European model and plant multiple clones of a variety, if possible, using various rootstocks to avoid a mono-culture and to maximize the imprint of the terroir. Our pruning, de-leafing, thinning and harvesting are done by hand to enhance quality. Leaf hedging is done mechanically. We tend to each variety individually and have different yields from each. The red varieties are protected from birds by netting because birds favour blue grapes over green and have an aversion to yellow.

Mastronardi Estate
Winery
1193 County Road 3 East
Kingsville, ONT, N9Y 2E5
519-733-9463
Mastronardi Estate Winery is nestled in the heart of Essex County wine region. This family-run winery exhibits a distinguished name in all things agricultural; whether it be their history in the greenhouse fresh produce industry or growing grapes on the 100-acre vineyard. Winemakers,Tony and Jared Mastronardi — a father and son duo — work side by side creating award winning VQA wines that will please every palate. Our unique European-style tasting room is open 7 days a week where knowledgeable staff can help you find the perfect wine for any occasion.
The 100 acre vineyard, originally planted over 25 years ago during the revival of wine production in Southern Ontario, produces many varietals of Vinifera. The vines thrive amongst 1000 + acres of vineyards in Southwestern Ontario, located along a peninsula that wraps around the north shore of Lake Erie. The moderating effect of the climate is ensured by the warm waters of Lake Erie, the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair, which surround this peninsula. It is the location along the 42nd north parallel (similar to that of French Riviera, Mendecino California, Tuscany Italy and southern France) that gives Lake Erie North Shore the highest accumulation of heat units in Ontario each summer. This Lake effect along with abundant sunshine results in the high sugars and ideal acid levels of each varietal. Therefore, an earlier harvest is common.
